About Us
Connecting Students with Local Businesses Since 2003
Who We Are
Welcome to the Broward Student Authority
Since 2003, we've connected over 100,000 students from Broward College and NSU with the best local businesses, giving them the spotlight they deserve.
We're the leaders — the ones making moves on campus, online, and in the community. With our student marketing team, collabs with student orgs, Broward's independent monthly paper, and events like Spring Break HQ at Fort Lauderdale Beach Place, we put students and local businesses at the center of it all.
Trusted by over 200 local businesses annually, we set the standard, run the scene, and represent the 954 like no one else.

Our Story
When print media took a dive in 2008, we didn't just adapt—we evolved, going fully digital and becoming Broward's top student hub during the pandemic.

Spring Break 2025: HQ Kickback at Beach Place
Spring Break HQ Kickback 2025 is where the 954 comes alive — held at Fort Lauderdale Beach Place, the largest shaded, free, open-air venue on the beach with the only public restrooms on the Beach.
Every year we pull in over 100,000 students majority from Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade, filling the space with activations and activities and even hosted Fort Lauderdale's first beach fashion show with local designers that keep students engaged in a fully managed, safe environment — with zero incidents in the past five years.

Meet Our Director: Ian Katz

Behind the success of the Broward Student Authority is fearless leader Ian Katz, whose business journey began early—summers spent in Plantation, Florida, at his uncle's Holiday Inn, home to the iconic Club Mirage.
The Student Authority Publishing Co. was founded in response to college friends expressing frustration over discounts that primarily benefited corporate giants. The mission became clear: Broward Small Business First.
Now, as proud members of NSU's Levan Center of Innovation, we are preparing to unveil Broward Student Authority 2.0—bigger, more innovative, and tech-driven.
